DANNY PELLEGRINI CLASSIC 2017
Shaping today's community youth to become the pillars of tomorrow's society' ~ Danny Pellegrini
The Vaughan Soccer Club (VSC) is hosting its first annual Danny Pellegrini Classic Tournament [DPC Tournament], in honor of our past Club President Danny Pellegrini. Danny began his involvement at the Grassroots Level in 1996. Since that time he advanced to coaching a competitive girls team and was elected onto the Vaughan Soccer Club Board as Tournament Director.
He then assumed the position of VP of Competitive Girls and ended his tenure as the President of the Board. During his Presidency, Danny was instrumental in spear heading VSC towards receiving the OSA Club Excellence Award as well as obtaining the Ontario Player League License.
His contribution and involvement helped pioneer the sport in our community. In 2013 Danny was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gherig's Disease), this diagnosis forced him to resign his post as President of the Vaughan Soccer Club and sadly in 2015, Danny lost his battle with ALS. In honor of Danny Pellegrini ~ and all he has done for this club, a portion of the proceeds from this tournament will be donated to ALS Canada.
